Vastu Guidance for Good Health: Good health is the foundation of a fulfilling life. While medical treatment remains the primary focus for healing, incorporating Vastu principles into your home can create a health-supportive environment. By addressing Vastu doshas (imbalances), you can align the energies of your living space to complement your health journey.
How Vastu Impacts Health
If a person is unwell, Vastu doshas can amplify health issues. By correcting these doshas, we can create a conducive atmosphere for recovery. However, Vastu is not an alternative to medical treatment—it is a complementary practice that enhances the healing process.
Major Vastu Considerations for Health
Key Areas to Avoid:
1. Toilet in Northeast (NE): This disrupts the water element and can lead to severe health issues.
2. Southwest (SW):
• Entrance: Linked to poverty and health problems.
• Underground Water Tank: This can lead to heart issues and instability.
3. South-Southwest (SSW):
• Entrance or Bedroom: Drains energy, causing indigestion and other ailments.
4. Southeast (SE): Boring or underground water tanks here are detrimental and often irreparable.
5. Corner or T-Junction Houses:
• North/East Facing: Safe and supportive.
• South/West Facing: This may lead to health and life challenges.
Understanding Health Through Ayurveda and Vastu
Ayurveda identifies three doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha—that govern the body and mind. Diseases arise from imbalances in these doshas, which are reflected in your home’s Vastu zones.
Vastu Guidance for Good Health: The Tridosha and Their Vastu Zones:
1. Vata (Air + Space):
Zones: SW, WSW, West, WNW, NW
Imbalance Effects: Anxiety, joint pains, nerve issues, premature ageing.
Emotional Symptoms: Nervousness, indecision.
2. Pitta (Fire + Water):
Zones: Half East, ESE, SE, SSE, South, SSW
Imbalance Effects: Inflammation, digestive issues, skin rashes.
Emotional Symptoms: Aggression, anger, obsessive tendencies.
3. Kapha (Water + Earth):
Zones: NNW, North, NNE, NE, ENE, Half East
Imbalance Effects: Obesity, diabetes, sinus congestion, fluid retention.
Emotional Symptoms: Greed, possessiveness, depression.
Emotional Health and Vastu
Emotional challenges often stem from imbalances in the water element (emotions). Blockages can occur due to inappropriate elements in water zones:
• Earth in Water Zones: Leads to feelings of being stuck and burdened.
• Fire in Water Zones: Causes pain and emotional distress.
Decoding Diseases Through Vastu
Diseases often arise from three factors: Ahar (diet), Vichar (thoughts), and Vyavahar (behaviour). Among these, Vichar can be influenced by aligning your space with Vastu principles.
Examples:
1. Chronic Stress: A fire element in the water zone may aggravate your sentiments and give you uneasiness.
2. Heart Issues: Underground Water tanks in the SW zone destabilize the earth element, increasing heart-related problems.
Vastu Guidance for Good Health: Remedies
NE (Northeast) & NNE (North-Northeast)
• Element: Water
• Imbalances: Physical ailments such as cancer, diabetes, and headaches can occur if there is an elemental imbalance in these zones.
Disruptions:
• Earth in these zones in any form (e.g. overhead tank, yellow-coloured decor, or heavy objects) can disrupt the water element.
• Fire in this zone (e.g., a kitchen or red decor) can lead to kidney problems.
• Sharp objects amplify emotional sensitivity, leading to hurt feelings or emotional distress.
SW (Southwest)
• Element: Earth
• Imbalances: Linked to heart issues and overall vitality. (stability)
Disruptions:
• Water (e.g., an overhead water tank) weakens the earth element, leading to instability and health problems like heart issues, high cholesterol, increased heart rate, or even heart attacks.
• Air (e.g., a cut in this zone) or green plants here weaken vitality, causing lethargy and diseases related to Vata.
• Fire in this zone may cause swelling, and if the zone is extended, it could lower heart rate.
SSW (South-Southwest)
• Impact: This is a disposal zone, unsuitable for bedrooms.
Effects:
• A bedroom here drains the body’s energy, weakening it and causing indigestion or other health issues.
• If you feel constantly drained, it may be due to the SSW zone’s negative influence.
• Remedy: If there is no bedroom but you still feel drained, remove your personal belongings from this zone.
SE (Southeast)
• Element: Fire (Agni)
• Imbalances:
• Water-related imbalances (e.g., underground water tanks, borewells or cut zones) can disturb the fire element, causing Agni dosha.
• A toilet in this zone can weaken the body’s immunity and overall strength.
ESE (East-Southeast)
• Element: Fire transitioning from Air
Imbalances:
• An overhead water tank here can lead to obesity, high blood pressure, and emotional frigidity (coldness in sexual responsiveness).
• Reason: Fire should emerge naturally from the air, but too much water cools the fire, disrupting the balance.
• Remedy: Avoid excessive water, blue and black colour here to maintain the fire element.
WNW (West-Northwest)
• Element: Space (Akash)
Imbalances:
• Fire in Space: Creates dryness, blocking the creation process and preventing water formation. This leads to ageing, emotional blockages, depression, or weakened emotions.
• Air in Space: Causes narrow openings, leading to issues like fistula, especially in the anus area.
By understanding and addressing the connection between your health, Ayurveda, and Vastu principles, you can create a home that nurtures well-being. A balanced space promotes not only physical recovery but also emotional resilience, aligning your environment with your journey toward holistic health.
Remember: Good health begins with good choices, and Vastu can be your silent partner in creating a life of balance and vitality.
